Feeling inspired today :)
I’ve been feeling inspired to work on fine art projects after visiting the Ann Arbor Art Fair a couple weeks ago. And this year I am determined to turn that inspiration into actual work. It helps that this year I’m going to two more shows with my mom and her friend, one in October and December, so I have concrete goals to force me to get cracking. Last night I was working on a design for a Halloween card and was feeling less than happy with it, so I veered off and started playing around in Photoshop. A short time later I ended up with this crazy colorful image that I am pretty happy with. I might have to follow this lead and work on more fine art images for the shows!
(Finally) A new profile pic!
It feels pretty good to have a new picture now that my go-to shot is approaching 3 years of age… another shot and more info from today at my 365 tumblr, here.
I had a realization last night that it’s been more than a couple weeks since I did much of anything to getting my shop set up… or producing inventory :(
So to rectify that I finally “connected” my Gmail accounts, so I can check and reply to business inquiries through my regular Gmail without signing out. And I decided to go ahead and quickly put together a shop banner based on my business cards. It’s pretty awesome to start seeing the shop come together, bit by bit.
For my next step I might have a little photo shoot with myself later this week and create an avatar/profile picture that is a recent, but good photo of me. I like the idea of using myself as the profile photo instead of another shop graphic, I find it a little bit more personable when I’m using Etsy myself.
That’s all for now,
Emma :)
A big change for my little blog
A couple of months ago I finally caved and got a Pinterest account as a way of organizing inspiration for my design projects. Well, it turns out that Pinterest is a better way to store inspiration for home and apartment decor as well (for me, anyway), so I have decided that it’s finally time to reshape this tumblr into what I originally intended it for— a way to document my life and my work!
The most exciting development in my personal life that has helped motivate this change to my Tumblr is that I’m in the process of opening my own Etsy shop— embsteadDesign— which will house books, greeting cards, postcards, prints, and possibly other handmade items. As I prepared for my first show a few weeks ago, I wished I had a place to document this, as lame as it sounds, journey. And then I remembered that was essentially why I created this blog to begin with.
Over the next few weeks I will be slowly trimming the excess from this blog— deleting pieces of inspiration that are no longer inspiring and leaving only the best of the best and the most popular posts.
So this is mostly just a warning to all the lovely people that follow me now that the types of posts you will see from here on out are going to be a lot different (if you stick with me)!
